Tracking service HitsLink says that 7.94% of computers connected to the Internet are Macs, up from 6.4 percent a year ago. This is a prediction that by the end of 2009, this number will be at least 10%.
Note: If HitsLink is unable to report the share, a suitable alternative will be used.

@Shiv, The way the prediction is stated is it requires the Mac to be connected to the internet. Which metric from HitsLink are you refererriing to? The only HItsLink metric of 7.94% figure is a metric for OS market share (http://www.applelinks.com/index.php/more/mac_os_posts_another_market_sha...)
I was referring to this article - www.tuaw.com/2008/07/01/mac-market-share-nears-8-safari-tops-6-3
The prediction isn't about which browser is connecting to the net, but rather whether it is an Apple Mac. Maybe I've misinterpreted the article's source - I assumed that Hitslink was the source of the 7.94% figure too.
The Industry Standard should have a way for us to chat.. comments can get pretty unwieldy. Besides I keep getting this message - "We are sorry, but the spam filter on this site decided that your submission could be spam. Please fill in the CAPTCHA below to get your submission accepted." This being my suggestion.
@Shiv, we'll have commenting between Connections enabled in the coming months. We're working on it, rest assured. We're still fine tuning the spam filter, which has been a little bit temperamental lately. Sorry about that. -- Eric
@Eric, will this be limited to Connections only or will it be a profile setting that allows/disallow non-connection comments/message?
@David, it will be limited to your Connections.
